Frequently Asked Questions…

  • I only offer telehealth.

Over the years I have found that telehealth is just as effective as in-person sessions, and in some cases more effective.

Clients tend to be more relaxed in their own environment and have said that because of the comforts of home, of this they are more open about in sharing. Pets can also be there to provide emotional support in session.

Clients can also fit therapy into their busy schedules and sometimes have their session on lunch breaks or in their car, because for some, that is the only place that they have privacy.

Telehealth can also be a safer way for clients who are in a more dangerous narcissistic relationships, especially if they do not want their partner to know they are in therapy.

  • The first session is a time for you to share your story, such as what brought you to therapy, and what you would like to see change. I will also ask for background information about your life and relationships.

During our first session, I will do my best to make you feel comfortable and at ease, and let you set the pace. I understand sharing such personal issues with someone new can be tough. It is okay if you are not ready to share everything. You are in charge.

  • I believe that traditional talk therapy its’t enough. I teach ways to soothe your nervous system through grounding skills, guided mediation and other somatic approaches.

The majority of my clients are very motivated for change and are eager to learn. The work you put in outside of session makes all the difference!

I regularly recommend helpful books, workbooks and grounding exercises to work on at home.

  • According to research, a trusted and comfortable relationship with your therapist is of utmost importance, and by far, the highest predictor of treatment success. I take a personal approach with each client, meeting you where you are. Then when you're ready, will challenge you to utilize your unique strengths and newly learned coping skills, to give you the best chance at reaching your full potential.

The best way to determine if I am the right therapist for you is to schedule a free consultation or an intake session. Most clients can tell if we are a good fit after the first couple of appointments. If either one of use don’t think it is a good fit, I am happy to provide a referral to another therapist that can help.

  • I specialize in treating Relational Trauma incurred from Narcissistic Abuse, Healing from Emotionally Immature Parents, and those struggling with Codependency.

It is common for my clients to also struggle with People Pleasing, Perfectionism, Low Self-Esteem/Confidence, PTSD, Depression and Anxiety.

I utilize a variety of Trauma Informed and Polyvagal & Somatic therapeutic approaches, all depending on the clients need and comfort level.

  • Narcissists present a false image to counselors, hiding their true nature. They tend to manipulate therapists, making the other partner appear unstable. The abused partner may start believing they are the problem. Couples counseling can worsen the situation if the therapist doesn't understand the complex dynamics of narcissistic abuse, and sharing feelings in counseling can give the narcissist more tools to manipulate you.

Instead of trying to fix the narcissistic partner, the abused partner should prioritize their own healing through education and individual therapy with a therapist who specializes in narcissistic abuse.
